This is the premise of the Street Games Series. Kyra Roberts must become a part of the underbelly of Abstreuse City, one of the murder capitals of the country, find her brother, who's disappeared into a gang there, and get them both out alive. 1. Have an amazing disguise -- One that even the easy-on-the-eyes detective you cross paths with won't see through. Make it into an entire alter ego: different name, voice, clothing, the whole nine yards.

2. Be smarter than those around you --You're going to be living on the street. Do your research, keep your eyes open, and consider all possibilities in every situation. Mental acuity is key here, so make sure you're taking care of yourself physically as well. This takes determination and conscious effort, but it's very doable.

3. Learn to read body language -- In order to interact with others such as the homeless, street urchins, gang members, and prostitutes, learn to read their body language and find ways to relate to them. This will help them open up to you and help you find what you're looking for.

4. Don't be afraid to enlist help -- Local cops, community center leaders, etc. can be a great asset to you. Just make sure anyone you take into your confidence is trustworthy. Also, you might want to keep a hotel room so you always have a safe haven to go to when you need a rest from the twistedness of the Slip Mire--your primary searching ground.
