Teaser Tuesday: L.A. Noir

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's teasers come from L.A. Noir by John Buntin. It's about Mickey Cohen and L.A. as it was in the twenties and thirties. I got this when it was on sale on Amazon, as I'm interested in True Crime and write crime fiction myself, I thought I'd give it a shot. So far, it's terribly interesting!
"Nights were exciting and frequently rewarding, both financially and psychologically. Armed robbery, Mickey found, did wonders for his self-esteem." (Pg. 46, Kindle Edition)

What are you reading this week?
